The Soundless Art From Within

The Art Within Me

Posted by jmichm on August 30, 2007

Art has always been with me since I first held a crayon as a child. I became more involved in Art during my teen years and since then Art just became part of my life. How or why I got involved in Art, only if I knew which is why I’m starting this blog as part of my journal in hoping to explore for an answer to that question, and to help build my art portfolio as well.

I may be using Art as a way to express my struggle of being deaf throughout my life. I try to express how my mind sees the soundless world surrounding me, I sometimes would try to image what things would have sound like and when that happens, the sound and image gets little abstract in my mind, and I use that to translate onto art pieces. My mom recently mentioned something that I thought was interesting, she thought that the reason I became artist was because of my deafness, and how I see things different than most people. She remembers that Art was my language long before I had a word to express myself; Art was an outlet for others to understand how I felt about everything around me. Art just happen to become part of who I am…
